It speaks the truth.

To choreograph a dance, one must think through many things. The beat, the rhythms, the style of music, and the lyrics. We also need to think about what logistically will work and be seamless during the actual dance. We time everything according to the tempo and it must be precise.

After much practice, there’s an intrinsic reward for accomplishing the final product that’s so precise and beautiful. Dance requires the group to be cohesive and work well together in order to pull it off. If anyone is out of sync, then it ruins the overall performance. But when all dancers are spot on, then the performance is stunning and powerful. It is a wonderful, physically expressive form of communicating the message of the song.

Our body language speaks volumes more often than our verbal words. Whenever our body says something contrary to what our words are saying, it can give mixed messages. Our body is prone to speak the truth from our heart. Meanwhile, we can fabricate and warp our words through deep-seated motives and intentions.

It is important to speak the truth. Our body language and our verbal language need to be in sync for communication clarity and for honesty. If they conflict, then it is like a lyrical dance to a heavy metal song. It is a mixed message that creates a dissonance that discredits us and causes others to distrust.

People honor truth, no matter how difficult it is to say. God honors truth, for that is the essence of who He is. We, as Christians, build our faith in the gospel’s truth, the truth of His existence, and the truth of His living presence in our lives. Truth is the bedrock of Christianity because Jesus is the Truth.

“Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” 1 John 3:18

“For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.” John 1:17

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6

“But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.” John 16:13

“The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in people who are trustworthy.” Proverbs 12:22

To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:31-32
