Communication

Communication is a two-way street.

Has someone ever ghosted you? You try to contact them and there’s no answer. They don’t return your calls. You have this gut feeling something is wrong with the relationship. You recall past interactions you’ve had with them to see if it’s something you’ve said or did that caused this potential rift in the relationship.

When you come up empty-handed and can’t figure it out, it may be something on their end. Maybe they’re going through something and want time alone? Or perhaps they’re traveling or unavailable? Still, it bothers you. You leave messages and wait. But still nothing. What is wrong?

When we face these or other unanswered questions, we can’t help but question ourselves. Why the change in relationship status? Why the silence? What did we do or say to cause such a barricade of protection? How can we get through to them so we can find out what’s going on?

Silence leaves people scrambling for reasons for the lack of communication and theories about what’s causing it. We feel a sense of rejection.

When we go about our lives without acknowledging God, maybe He feels disregarded. If we don’t communicate with Him throughout the day, could He be waiting for us to share a moment or give Him praise for all the blessings He continually gives to us?

Communication is a two-way street. Both parties need to interchange and interrelate. If it’s one-sided, it leaves one feeling snubbed. It’s not a healthy, reciprocated relationship. If it’s not a mutually invested relationship, then it eventually disintegrates.

We must preserve our relationship with God. He is ever present in our lives, so it’s up to us to accept His outstretched hand and restore our relationship with Him. With the Holy Spirit inside of us, our interaction with God is supernatural. As the Holy Spirit communes with God, His love and grace touch us. His Word ministers to us, and His power renews us.

Let’s take the time to connect with God each day. He listens to our prayers, teaches us His ways, and guides our path. All we need to do is talk to Him throughout the day. Whenever He miraculously intercedes in our lives, He amazes us and blesses us with His power and His grace.

“Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.” Ephesians 4:2-3

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
