We get easily overwhelmed when we face a giant. It could be a large project, a major tragedy, or a task or situation too big for us. Fear can set in and we react with fight, flee, or freeze responses.

Whatever reaction we choose, it’s usually that. A reaction. Sometimes we react impulsively and play defense against circumstances and situations. But if we act instead of reacting, we can engage our intellect, plan, and make better decisions in the heat of the moment.

If we look at the big picture, it could overwhelm us. It can be a gigantic task that demands more than we can deliver. But if we break it down into small sections, steps, or pieces, we quickly realize that it is very doable.

God allows us to face certain challenges in our lives for our personal and spiritual growth. If we face a monumental task or situation, He will equip us to work through it. It may take all we’ve got and more, but He will carry our burdens. It may be painful and require great sacrifice, but we then identify with Christ. Through it all, we will grow in Him and come out on the other side stronger than we’ve ever imagined.

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” James 1:2-5

“Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.” Hebrews 7:25

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

“And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.” 1 Peter 5:10
