God Is Light

Be a beacon of light in this present darkness.

If we don’t drink alcohol, people are quick to assume that something is wrong with us. If we don’t engage in malicious gossip, some people may give us scornful looks. Then, when we turn around and walk away, it’s guaranteed that we are their next target.

If we don’t fit in, we stand out. But is that a bad thing? God wants us to be exactly what He created us to be, unique in design. He wants us to grow continuously in Him and live for His glory because that way is best for us.

He doesn’t want us to conform to the ways of man and blindly pursue the temporal values of society. Instead, He wants us to transform into the ways of God and live full on for the eternal values of His kingdom.

So, be that light in the midst of darkness. Be that one who stands firm for God. For God is with us and will equip us for any evil that tries to derail us. He chose us for His royal priesthood and set us apart for His glory.

Don’t scatter seeds of discontent. Instead, scatter seeds of the Gospel. Although both seeds grow, one will lead to destruction and the other to life. Let’s be a sower of love and spread the essence of Jesus in all conversations, interactions, and confrontations. By doing so, we will flush out the darkness and fill it with the light of God.

“But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.” 1 Peter 3:15-16

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:2

When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12

“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” 1 Peter 2:9
