Humiliation

How do we get over public humiliation? The event replays in our minds over and over as we torment ourselves with that painful time in our lives. We wish we could go back in time and change the situation or erase it from our minds. But sadly, because there was a significant amount of pain and emotion tied to the event, we will remember it for a very long time.

But how can we move forward from such a painful memory? First, we need to take it to our Father. Cry on His shoulder and receive His comfort and healing. We cannot erase it from our past, but we can choose to not let it define us. We can choose to listen to the voice of God instead of the voice of man.

Jesus endured such pain and public humiliation that He is more than acquainted with our grief. By experiencing it ourselves, it actually helps us to identify with our Lord and to what great lengths He went just for us. So, we too can identify with others who undergo that same painful situation.

Believe it or not, God can use any event in our lives as a ministry to others. Whatever we go through in life can be a vital tool in reaching the lost, the downtrodden, the ones in despair and those filled with hopelessness. Our experiences become points of relatability with those who are desperate for understanding. We then can reach their hearts with sympathy and unique connectivity that could be the very thing they’ve needed to see the essence of God.

We don’t understand why we face the cruelty of humanity. But with God, we can transform any negative situation into a positive one for His glory. By magnifying God in all circumstances and situations, He reigns. Whatever we go through is worth it to become more like Him.

“The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all; he protects all his bones, not one of them will be broken.” Psalm 34:17-20

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 2 Corinthians 12:9

“I trust in you; do not let me be put to shame, nor let my enemies triumph over me. No one who hopes in you will ever be put to shame, but shame will come on those who are treacherous without cause. Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.” Psalm 25:2-5
