Lead a movement of positive change.

Some people love to complain. They spout out their gripes and make sure we hear their opposition. Because they’re so outspoken, they emerge as a leader for the silent who feel the same way. They boldly stand up against the establishment to challenge the status quo.

But some of these people are toxic. They sow seeds of discontent and darken the views of all. They perpetuate negative attitudes so much that everyone grumbles and complains. Before long, the atmosphere breeds pessimism and cynicism, which only worsens the situation.

Others shine a light for those unaware. They are a spokesperson for the little guy and promote positive change. They boldly confront the source to make suggestions for improvement.

So what’s the difference? It all comes down to perspective. Complaints, put-downs, and negativity are counter-productive and damaging. Reframing the situation involves positivity, considering others, and suggesting improvements.

To make change happen, it takes initiative. It takes leadership and direction. Most are followers, but those who create a movement will rally supporters for their cause.

Change is a slippery slope. It can be for the better or for the worse. If we insist on our own way, then our selfishness becomes the underpinning of our actions. The outcome will push our agenda but may cause dissension.

To be a positive change maker, it’s important to have the bedrock of Christ’s love. If we operate in His manner, we lead a movement of positive change. This is the change that God desires for all of us. To grow, learn, love and thrive, and lead others to a personal relationship with Him so they can become leaders of positive change.

“These people are grumblers and faultfinders; they follow their own evil desires; they boast about themselves and flatter others for their own advantage.” Jude 1:16

“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.” Ephesians 4:29

“When a man's ways please the Lord, he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.” Proverbs 16:7 (RSV)
