Nightmares
Do they reveal your fears?
8/19/20262 min read

Sometimes nightmares are so realistic that we really believe that it’s happening. When we wake up, we do a quick double take to make sure that it was just a bad dream and not reality. Then we’re so relieved when we realize it’s not true and it was just a bad dream.
We generate our dreams while we sleep. Therefore, they are not under our control. Even though they may seem random, they frequently reveal a fear that we harbor inside ourselves. After waking, our fear is on our mind. No wonder we are relieved when it’s over. It wasn’t real.
So we must ask ourselves, “Why do we fear?” Is it because of a historical event in our lives that scarred us? Is it because we lack trust in ourselves? Or is it because we don’t trust God? It might even be an unknown factor.
Whatever causes our fears, we need to lay them before God and let Him cast them out. Perfect love casts out fear. He will not only extinguish our fears, but He will replace them with His presence. When we allow God to infiltrate our lives, the fears inside disappear. When the God of the universe loves us unconditionally, then it’s impossible to fear. He cares for us more than we can understand, and will provide for us throughout our lives on Earth and in Heaven. He protects us from harm and will be with us through all things. We need only trust in Him and our fears will vanish.
Strengthen the feeble hands, steady the knees that give way; say to those with fearful hearts, “Be strong, do not fear; your God will come, he will come with vengeance; with divine retribution he will come to save you.” Isaiah 35:3-4
“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment.” 1 John 4:18
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27
“Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:6-7
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10
“Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.” 1 Corinthians 16:13
