Our Motives
Our priorities reveal who we are inside.

When we set out on a journey, it fills us with mixed emotions. Anticipation of the destination, fear of the unknown, regret for leaving, and excitement for those we'll see. Then we make our plans, set up arrangements, pack our bags, and head out.
Our priorities will determine the entire trip. They will affect which mode of transportation we use, what we take with us, what we leave behind, what we plan to do, and who we spend our time with throughout our journey.
Our priorities reflect our preferences, our values, our hopes and our dreams. But our experiences and our fears also drive our priorities. Our personal history affects our choices for the future.
We may not realize why we do what we do, but if we carefully examine our motives, we may uncover the actual reasons. It takes a lot of soul searching to expose things inside ourselves that we have buried for years. But when we bring them into the light, we not only find a powerful emotion tied to an event, but we also find a shift in our decisions thereafter.
When that is the case, we need to bring it to God. Is this the direction that He wants us to head in? Or are we going there as a reaction to our past?
We desperately need God to fill our hearts and minds with His presence so that He will heal our past pain. Then we can set out on a course that will impact the world with His unconditional love and give Him the glory by living our lives fully honoring Him.
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:30-31
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.” 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
“So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” 1 Corinthians 10:31
