Our Net Worth

It is so nice when others value you. When employers offer us a position, give us a promotion, or present us with an award, we automatically feel validated and appreciated. As our spirits lift, we get an extra dose of confidence, and we feel capable of taking on the world.

However, the flip side also affects us. When companies eliminate our job or we get a pink slip, it can be devastating. We feel anxious about paying the bills and landing another job in time before our finances really take a nosedive. We question our skill set, our capabilities, and our worth.

If we ride this wave of highs and lows, our emotions will dramatically fluctuate. It will range from calm seas to torrential tsunamis, or anything else in between. If we let others or society dictate our worth, it’s a lie. Their subjective assessment of us is based on their own values, not God’s.

We need to claim the truth in His Word. God created us uniquely and specifically. We are precious in His eyes. He unconditionally loves us. Jesus went to great lengths for restoration of our relationship with Him. The Holy Spirit empowers us for every task. God is our source of worthiness and He will supernaturally equip us to take on the world to affect lives and create positive life change.

God instills in our hearts a supernatural joy because we know He is with us always. No matter what comes our way, it will not shake us. Because nothing can snatch us out of His hand, we can live confidently in Him. God will always provide for us. We can trust Him and be free from all anxiety. Jesus’ death on the cross says how much we are worth. We are worth dying for.

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” Psalm 139:13-16

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?” Matthew 6:25-27

“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” 1 Peter 2:9
